↳ Finnick’s Goodbye Letter to Annie

Dear Annie,

 My sweet beloved Annie, if you’ve been handed this letter, then I suppose, like many others, my body has returned to the essence from which it was created. But rest assured, though I cease to exist, my heart will always belong to you. Do not resent me Annie, for reasons behind my choice to join the war were directly related to the protection of our son. Because, if the efforts of the rebels had gone to waste, our son’s name would no doubt be written on a slip of paper in neat print, and placed in a bowl on the stage of the next reaping. The thought of putting our son through the misery that destroyed our minds and left us with lifelong scars seems more painful than death itself. And so Annie, forgive me for not returning to you, but do realize that my death was not in vain. Now you must not disappear again, you must stay strong for our son. When you’re faced with difficult times remember that I am here for you, always.
